Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as organization issues
  • Expert knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, Bank standards, and may fulfill a governance role
  • Expert knowledge and experience in own discipline; integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities
  • Extensive knowledge with vendor management, data center operations, telecommunications, issuing Bid specifications and RFP evaluation
  • Working knowledge of network engineering, data center applications, client/server computing, and production operations support
  • Basic knowledge of the OSI and TCP/IP model, wireless, as well as outside plant with manholes, duct banks and Telco providers Aerial/Terrestrial pathways between buildings with regional geographies
  • Knowledge of and proven skills using various test sets including: power system multi-meters, cable test sets (Fluke DTX for copper and fiber), fiber test sets (Fluke OTDR fiber tester), cable testing and certification, network test sets (Fluke Network Analyzer)
  • Solid knowledge of Data Center Critical Infrastructure Systems, including Cooling (CRAC, Pumps, Dry Coolers), Power Distribution (Switchgear, UPS, PDU, RPP, DC Plant, ATS, Generators, Fuel Tanks) and Fire Detection and Suppression
  • Ability to right size Data Centers, LAN rooms; in relation to space, power, cooling and IT rack layouts from single to multi-story buildings
  • Strong financial management skills in budgeting, forecasting and cost control
  • A deep understanding of the interdependent relationship between infrastructure and the applications/services they enable as well as the critically of maintaining strong connections between the respective teams within IT
  • Ability to see the “big picture” across such areas as the private and public cloud hosted infrastructure and services. In addition to physical DC security, telecommunications, enterprise storage
  • Functional understanding of project management principles and their application to infrastructure projects and teams
  • Must have managerial skills to direct a team of 5 or more
  • Acts as a key contributor in a complex and critical environment
  • May provide leadership to teams or projects; shares expertise
  • Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic technology initiatives, build and maintain key elements of the firm’s enterprise infrastructure and associated project portfolio
  • Provide leadership for delivery of 24/7 service operations and KPI compliance and audit
  • Establish and maintain metrics, key performance indicators, and service level agreements to continually improve the DC performance
  • Lead an extremely talented team of managed services professionals & third party consultants; infrastructure, and administration professionals who with others define, manage and support the entire operations infrastructure for the firm
  • Leverage deep technology expertise for own area of specialization to deliver and ensure that all areas across the organization that provision, manage and support various technologies have the necessary tools, processes and documentation required to effectively execute on their respective mandates
  • Execute on Engineering strategy as it relates to the introduction of tools and the automation of build, test, release and configure activities across Application, Platform and Infrastructure
  • Partner with the Operations team to automatically integrate with appropriate tools and processes as part of automated/self-serve Application, Platform or Infrastructure releases
  • Work with partners across Technology and apply in-depth understanding of relevant business needs to identify and leverage synergies across the various areas
  • Act as the expert or lead innovator and agent of change for the programs and services under management
  • Work with other teams to implement best practices for engineering and management
  • Work with vendor platform providers and engineering peers to keep abreast of trends, products, frameworks, and applications
  • Identify and effectively manage stakeholder engagement and impacts across the enterprise
  • Interpret client needs, assess engineering related requirements and identify solutions to non-standard requests
  • Apply best practices and knowledge of internal / external business issues to improve products or services in own discipline
  • Monitor and control costs within own work
  • May interact with governance and control groups, (e.g. regulatory / operational risk, compliance and audit) to provide subject matter expertise and consult on risk issues / items related to Engineering technology and tools
  • May develop and/or contribute to negotiations of third party contracts/agreements
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of external development, engineering and emerging solutions, market conditions and their impact
  • Proactively identify emerging technologies and innovative solutions for building more robust platform domains

Preferred Qualifications

  • University or post-graduate degree in a technology related major preferred
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience managing and or directing large IT operational teams preferred
  • 7 + years relevant experience
  • Data Center certifications would be highly desirable
  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, knowledge of CFD programming, Bicsi- Registered Cable Distribution Designer (RCDD)
