Tool & Die Machinist III

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires 3-5 years related experience.
Proficiency in setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
Knowledge of precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Skills in troubleshooting and performing preventive maintenance on machinery.
Able to efficiently and accurately set-up and operate to exacting tolerance, manual or CNC machine tools.
Able to diagnose complex progressive, forming and stamping dies.
Requires strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
Strong attention to detail and quality control.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Understanding of safety protocols and standards.
Must be able to move at least 50 pounds.

Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Tasks include fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical instruments and industrial machines.
Also be responsible for ensuring equipment is maintained and in good working condition, adhering to safety standards and protocols, and collaborating with team members to achieve production goals.
Analyze specifications, lays-out metal stock, sets up and operates a wide variety of exact tolerance machine tools.
Fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.
Modify dies to conform to engineering changes.
Troubleshoot equipment and makes complex repairs.
Provide assistance and guidance to apprentices and lower level employees.
