Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tooling design and installation within the automotive industry.
  • Proven experience in designing assembly tooling, jigs, fixtures, and automated equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk, AutoCAD, Teamcenter).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly in automotive assembly.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate assembly tools, fixtures, and equipment for the automotive manufacturing process.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create and modify detailed drawings and specifications for tooling.
  • Lead the installation, testing, and commissioning of tooling in the assembly line, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to understand assembly requirements and ensure tool designs meet these needs effectively.
  • Analyze existing tooling and assembly processes to identify areas for improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced efficiency.
  • Implement best practices in tooling design and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product development to ensure alignment and successful integration of tooling in production.
  • Provide technical support and training to assembly operators on the effective use and maintenance of tooling.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of tooling designs, project progress, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management on project status, tool performance, and recommendations for future projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil / Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with current automotive industry standards and regulations.
