Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering typically preferred)
- Designation as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
- 8+ years experience with track design engineering for large-scale rail transit systems including Class I Railways, LRT, or Commuter Rail
- Demonstrated experience in the design of rail alignments, special trackwork, junctions, yards, and facilities
- Detailed understanding of local authorities’ codes and design standards
- Strong capabilities in AutoCAD Civil3D Subassembly Composer, Dynamo and Navisworks for BIM interface
- Strong capabilities in OpenRail Designer – MicroStation
- Demonstrated experience on large-scale interdisciplinary projects with track design leadership responsibilities and interface with civil, utilities, and systems engineering
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead the design and alignment of track infrastructure for various transit systems using AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Open Rail Designer.
- Responsible for leading internal Designers and Engineers with a primary focus on managing the track design and resolving technical challenges to reach a design solution that meets all requirements including specifications and standards and adheres to Parsons QAQC processes.
- Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates, and present to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensuring effective design coordination across disciplines. Participate in design coordination meetings and address critical issues as it pertain to track design within an interdisciplinary team.
- Mentor and develop junior-intermediate track staff. Provide functional guidance and support to enhance technical and non-technical skills.
- Review and approve shop drawings and technical documentation. Implement railway systems and procedures to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and safe project delivery.
- Contribute to proposal preparation, develop and verify technical scopes, and assist with budget and schedule planning and management.
- Be a leader within the Project Team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in design-build contract delivery is an asset.
