Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; additional education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field, with a focus on leadership and operational management.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage and monitor the status of shipments to ensure timely execution of pickups and deliveries.
  • Maintain and audit detailed records of transportation activities and shipment statuses.
  • Collaborate with team members to confirm pickup and delivery schedules and address any arising issues promptly.
  • Determine best shipping options and requirements for loads to meet branches needs and expectations.
  • Daily analyze freight costs versus CPU vendor allowance for each available load and determine best cost-effective shipping route.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for branches regarding shipment status and logistics solutions.
  • Provide accurate and timely resolution of inquiries and logistics challenges.
  • Evaluate and solve daily transportation issues and implement solutions for the field.
  • Proactively communicate delays, issues, or critical updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify and communicate potential cost-saving opportunities to branches and senior management.
  • Advise on and implement optimal transportation strategies to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Support negotiations with carriers and vendors to secure favorable rates and terms.
  • Quarterly review shipping lanes with new Vendor CPU allowances and freight rates and choose best ship via option for the period.
  • Partner with the purchasing department to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with shippers, receivers, and other stakeholders to guarantee smooth transportation operations.
  • Contribute to and lead continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
