Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in turbomachinery analysis
- Creation and maintenance of 3D models of compressor geometry
- Exposure to testing of engines, or powertrain components
- Proven expertise in the aerodynamics and thermodynamics of turbomachinery
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data
Responsibilities
- Own critical turbomachinery components and be responsible for every aspect of the turbomachinery analysis
- Assist in research and development regarding analysis of aircraft engines, engine components, advanced combustion and fuel injection systems
- Conduct aerodynamic and thermodynamic analysis to evaluate new and existing designs
- Ensure that turbomachinery solutions are developed to meet challenging manufacturing goals, minimum cost/weight and on an aggressive schedule
- Lead projects from conception through to testing and validation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems (Small jet engines, APUs)
- Experience with Numerical analysis Toolsets for turbomachinery (AxStream, Concepts NREC)
- Experience with aerodynamic rig testing techniques for turbomachinery components
- Experience stage matching using multistage 3D CFD (e.g. ADS, APNASA, FINE/Turbo)
- Familiarity with Turbine Cycle Analysis (NPSS)
- Knowledge of fundamentals of internal combustion engines
- Professional experience designing, testing, or flying air-breathing combustors, augmentors, ignition systems, variable area nozzles, or turbomachinery
