Requirements

  • Phd/Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering/Bioprocessing, Food Science, Food Chemistry/Biochemistry, Food Engineering, Food Microbiology, or a related field with progressive growth in R&D, innovation, and commercial strategy
  • Demonstrated experience leading and directing chemistry, discovery, or measurement sciences functions, including R&D planning, execution, and strategic program development.
  • Proven ability leading and building large organizations (over 50 people) across multiple sites and/or geographies.
  • Strong technical skills, with an understanding of new technologies as they relate to Ingredion’s operating Segments.
  • Excellent executive presence, with ability to act as a global thought leader and represent Ingredion to the Board, customers, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Visibly demonstrated experiences, results-orientation, and behaviors consistent with Ingredion’s Values.
  • Experience with ingredient manufacturers and/or consumer goods manufacturing companies, direct Consumer Packaged Goods experience a plus.
  • Ingredient Structure-Function understanding across broad Food & Beverage categories.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-year global Molecular Discovery & Measurement Sciences strategy and build technology platform capabilities to deliver innovation against Ingredion’s P2W aspiration
  • Grow & establish Ingredion’s capability as a thought leader and partner for advancing data-driven, fundamental science-based impactful solutions for customers and consumers
  • Inspire & lead teams to identify & scope Molecular Discovery areas for Ingredion in alignment with the company’s growth aspirations
  • Lead teams through the discovery process, including the interpretation of commercial insights, structuring research plans, guiding fieldwork, analyzing findings, and developing new knowledge and products
  • Synthesize and effectively communicate Molecular Discovery and Measurement Systems findings to inform product design and business decisions to broad stakeholder audiences
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and standards to ensure that the group’s capabilities effectively influence the holistic product development and commercialization processes
  • Create and support a deep trust & high performing culture that encourages a team-based environment to motivate & inspire staff to work collaboratively towards growth targets
  • Lead, inspire & mentor the leadership team to identify and enable professional development opportunities for all team members
  • Oversee the operations and related budgets of the team and maintain a high level of fiscal accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with end-to-end food/ingredient commercialization processes is highly desirable, with a preference for a wide range of product category experience.
  • Demonstrated Texture Science expertise preferred.
  • Specific technical knowledge concerning starches, hydrocolloids, and other texturizers, sweeteners, and functional nutritional ingredients.
