Requirements
- University Degree required; Finance or Business preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of previous underwriting/broker experience in relevant product areas.
- Previous leadership experience required.

- Visible and credible business partner within Professional Liability across the organization with key relationships with North American colleagues.
- Proven negotiation skills gained through established broker/client or broker/underwriter relationships.
- Proven ability to grow a profitable and diversified book of business.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and grow broker/producer relationships, maintain a high level of visibility and build strong distribution.
- Develops market-specific strategies and customized approaches based on market conditions, pricing and broker needs.
- Adapts to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
- Demonstrates analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills for quick, sound decisions.
- Leads business development and guides new product implementation.
- Proven ability to draft language efficiently and effectively for new products, endorsements, and applications.
- Engages in product development as a member of internal drafting teams in collaboration with all stakeholders.
- Provides the Canadian perspective to global product managers to assist them in understanding the nuances of our market, legal system and loss experience.
- Develops sound underwriting strategy and holds responsibly for all aspects of execution.
- Technical underwriting / referral resource for team.
- Proficient in a broad array of Professional Liability and Financial Lines products, technologies, and processes.
- P&L Accountability (production, weekly forecasting, monthly/quarterly financial reporting, planning, expense management).
- Ability to lead and implement change management as required to be responsive to the market and profitability needs.
- Reports key risk and performance details to Reinsurance Markets, Ceded Re, Senior Leadership and Canadian Board of Directors, as required.
- Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to support lines of business (Executive, Claims, Actuary, General Counsel, Compliance, Marketing, Finance, Operations, IT, Ceded Re).
- Responsibility for both self-audit and corporate underwriting audit in business tower.
- Business owner representative for IT initiatives, systems and tools.
