Requirements

  • Bachelors in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Economics or related field.
  • 10 years of experience is to include 5 years of direct involvement in resource planning-related activities with commensurate regulatory-related background.
  • 5 years management/leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a generation investment plan that supports the long-term growth strategy of the company while providing reliable, cost-effective electric service to AEP’s customers.
  • Oversee the development of an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) as a comprehensive strategic decision support tool that will drive infrastructure investment decisions for AEP’s operating companies.
  • Direct the development of an IRP framework that will bring together policy considerations, the decentralized and decarbonized nature of new generation technology, transmission and distribution infrastructure needs and portfolio risk analyses.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of actionable investment plans at a cadence that supports AEP’s internal strategic planning process.
  • Direct the long-term Integrated Resource Planning modeling activities of the affiliate AEP operating companies residing in both the AEP-Eastern (PJM) and AEP-Western (SPP) regions.
  • Oversee the maintenance of information necessary for Capability, Load/Demand and Reserve analyses to determine resource needs for both the AEP-Eastern and Western operating companies/regions.
  • Monitor developments within Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs’ PJM & SPP) that could impact resource planning activities.
  • Direct the development of periodic region-specific integrated resource plans to meet regulatory/statutory filing requirements.
  • Serves as a company witness before state public utility commission, FERC technical conferences and FERC dockets etc.
  • Assemble and present/deliver periodic IRP and other regulatory filing process updates to internal management, as required.
  • Working with other technical organizations, keep abreast of emerging supply-side technologies, their attendant costs and performance parameters, for purpose of considering in IRP processes going-forward.
