Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 10 years of purchasing negotiation experience.
- At least 5 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.
- Position requires travel up to 60% of the time for business purposes (within state, out of state, international).
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the sourcing/procurement responsibilities of the Division. Meet with vendors and negotiate pricing.
- Design, lead and implement cost savings across the division.
- Define and implement sourcing and procurement strategy. Establish procedures to optimize the supply chain across business units.
- Oversee total cost of operation / ownership evaluations, market analysis and supply research, and price audits to identify new cost and efficiency improvements.
- Lead ‘make vs buy’ analysis to optimize quality and savings opportunities.
- Work with Product Management, Marketing and Sales Operations to maximize savings opportunities. Oversee development of new alternatives for cost savings opportunities. Strategize for most viable opportunities.
- Engage and support all significant expenditures including those outside the typical vendor-component area. Analyze costs and help negotiate the rates and terms.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to contribute to operational cost savings. Lead cross-functional ideation kaizen events to identify cost out opportunities.
- Travel to the manufacturer (including overseas), qualifying them as a viable source, negotiating purchase price, determining volume commitments, securing exclusivity rights and executing a contract for purchase.
- Management responsibilities include: Typically, manages through Directors. Provides leadership and management to one or more major departments of an operating unit or to a department that has system-wide accountability. Strategic, tactical and operational planning (24 + months) for the function or department; Direct budgetary responsibility for one or more departments, functions or major projects/programs; Interpret and execute policies for departments/projects and develops; Recommend and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies; Hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA.
- CPM (Certified purchasing manager).
