Welding Manufacturing Engineer

B.S. in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, welding engineering, or a related field.
2+ years of welding or manufacturing industry experience, with an emphasis on welding processes.
Experience working with AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Specification.
Hands-on experience designing and developing weld tooling.
Familiarity with parametric design software (SolidWorks, Pro/E, etc.).
Strong ability to document processes and procedures for quality assurance.

Design, develop, and maintain weld tooling for both development and production environments, focusing on tanks and large structures.
Optimize welding processes, including robotic and manual welding techniques, to improve quality, cycle time, and overall efficiency.
Ensure welding processes and procedures meet AWS D17.1 Aerospace Specifications and other relevant industry standards.
Collaborate with Process Development Engineers to standardize welding processes and prepare them for production scalability.
Create internal welding procedures, ensuring quality conformance, in preparation for AS9100D Certification.
Conduct weld-related time studies, PFMEA, and Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement and waste reduction.
Source external suppliers for weld materials and fixtures, ensuring they meet quality standards.
Utilize MRP systems to manage work instructions, bills of materials, and procurement of parts related to weld operations.
Lead Value Stream Mapping efforts to identify areas for process improvement and predict future-state welding operations.

Experience with tank and structural welding in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
Manufacturing engineering experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 Certified facility.
Experience with Material Resource Planning (MRP) software.
Prior experience implementing lean manufacturing principles and safety compliance.
Strong background in robotic welding and automated welding systems.
